Special Olympics Bowling
The students in my program recently participated in Special Olympics bowling at Interstate Bowling in Augusta. All of the kids had a great time and were proud of the ribbons they received.

Attention Deficit Disorder
Information on attention deficit disorders and the role of research in discovering underlying causes and effective treatments. Includes treatment options, strategies for coping, and other sources of information and support.
Serves people with ADD and their families, teachers, and those who care for persons with ADD. The organization focuses especially on ADD adults and young adults.

ADD Resources is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to help people with ADD develop their full potential. Their website offers the National ADHD Directory, the most complete listing of ADHD service providers and products on the Internet and many great articles by national authorities as well as adults with ADD for free downloading.

Autism
ASA, the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization, exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
The Fetal Alcohol and Drug Unit is a research unit dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE). Our main goals are to conduct research on fetal alcohol and drug effects across the life span, to disseminate information on fetal alcohol and drug effects, to provide consultation for persons of any age thought to be affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol, and to provide training in human behavioral teratology.

Mental Retardation
AAMR is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of professional and other people who are concerned about mental retardation and related disabilities.

Maine Summer Camps
CAMP STRIVE is a day camp that provides young adults (15-24) with developmental disabilities the opportunity to make friends and learn valuable skills in a safe, inclusive environment. Camp sessions run in the summer and during school vacations.
The MYCA provides information about boys', girls' and coed youth camps throughout the state. These camps offer educational and recreational opportunities for children ages 7-18. Contact them for information about camps that can accommodate children with special needs.
Pine Tree Camp welcomes about 500 children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities each summer to participate in recreational opportunities in fully-accessible setting. Beginning in the camp also offers recreational opportunities in the fall, winter and spring months.
A non-profit organization 501 (c)(3) providing camps for children with limb loss, and education, mentorship, and support to these children and their families.
Located on a quiet, forested corner of Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, Summer Camp offers weeklong summer recreational opportunities in fully handicapped accessible waterfront facilities for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their family members and care givers. Day time activities including lifeguard monitored swimming, kayaking, paddle boats, pontoon boat rides, fishing, home cooked meals provided by our kitchen, nightly camp fires, and sleeping overnight in fully accessible cabins enables campers with a variety of disabilities to fully experience the joy of summer at the lake.
